This got me thinking though….. what other famous literary characters out there have similarities with today’s writers?
I’ve picked my character, chosen 5 similarities, and explained how writers have so much more in common with the boy who lived than we may realize. Now, I’d like to hear from all of you!
Here’s my challenge to you:
- Pick a character from the below list.
- In the comments, tell us who you’ve chosen and name one example of how that character is similar to today’s writer.
Here’s the list of characters that landed in my brain the moment this question hit me (no book titles needed since I think we all know who these peeps are):
Huckleberry Finn
Tom Sawyer
Romeo and/or Juliet
Elizabeth Bennett
Jo March
Holden Caulfield
Sherlock Holmes and/or Dr. Watson
Anne of Green Gables
Sir Lancelot and/or King Arthur
Dracula and/or Lestat
Tom Ripley
Hannibal Lecter
Bella Swan and/or Edward Cullen and/or Jacob Black
Harry Potter
Katniss Everdeen
*You can pick more than one character if you like
Are you ready? Are you sure??
Let the challenge begin!!
**Note: I’m traveling again for work today, but I promise to pop in and check out everyone’s answers as often as I can. I can’t wait to read what everyone comes up with! :0)

Writers are like Romeo or Juliet because...writing is a tragedy. :p LOL, just kidding.
No, I think writers are more like Katniss Everdeen because you have to work everyday in a world where you may never break free. You have to sludge onward day after day never knowing if you'll make your ultimate goals, whether they be publication, agent approval, editor approval, reader approval, etc. You have to fight and keep writing no matter what life throws at you.
Writers are like Dracula b/c you have to being willing to kill your darlings. Came over from Susan's blog! Great guest post. :)
Hi Tina! I couldn't agree more with your comparison to Katniss! Or with Romeo and Juliet for that matter -- LOL!
Thank you for stopping by and for the comment ;o)
Hi Laura! Thank you for stopping by! You are exactly right! We've got to be willing to make sacrifices...not matter how hard they may be.
I'm glad you enjoyed the guest post.
Writers are like Elizabeth Bennett because they surely believe that an editor in possession of a good imprint must surely be in want of an author! And that author is me! :-)
Susan: LOVE it!!! Thanks for the comment! :o)
